- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- At least 2 sprigs of fresh basil (6-10 leaves)
- Enough ice to make 8 cups total
If you have a large enough blender you can double the recipe to make 1/2 gallon at a time.
1. Place the sugar, lemon juice, and 3 cups water into blender. Blend until frothy and combined.
2. Add basil and blend until it is a lovely green color. If desired, strain out the leaves through mesh strainer or cheese cloth.
3. Return half the liquid to the blender, add ice, and blend to make a slushy. Or simply add enough ice to your pitcher of lemonade to make 2 quarts and stir until cold.
4. Serve and enjoy!
VARIATIONS:
Omit the basil for plain lemonade.
Add fresh peppermint for a minty version
Add 4 heaping Tbsp of fresh or frozen Raspberries, Strawberries, or Blackberries, and SHAKE or BLEND for a berry flavored lemonade treat.
Pour into popsicle makers and freeze for homemade lemonade pops- add berries as well if you’re feeling fancy.
